About Mitzi

Hi, I’m Mitzi Miles… and let’s just start with that!Yes, that is my real name. I always wanted to try and make up a real cute “radio name,” but I could never remember those names on the air!

I grew up in Western Pennsylvania the 3rd of 4 children in my family. I started my entertainment career around age 3, with I would dance and sing in front of the TV during commercials. Luckily, there were no remote controls at that time, so I had a captive audience!

I went to Slippery Rock University, where I discovered how much fun radio is. My first radio job was in Latrobe, PA. You may have heard of Latrobe if you like to golf or drink beer. Latrobe is where Arnold Palmer is from and where they brew Rolling Rock Beer! After working in Latrobe and several nightclubs, I worked in Pittsburgh, Columbus and Chicago.

I met my husband Brian when we both lived in Pittsburgh, he is originally from Boston and still has the accent. We moved to Michigan for his career and I immediately felt at home here. Pittsburgh and Detroit are the same in many respects. My father was in the steel industry, which I consider similar to the auto industry. People work hard and enjoy their down time and often cheer for sports teams that don’t always win.. oh well!

My daughter Kelsey is the apple of my eye. I feel so blessed to be her mother. I try not to be that “Crazy Mom” who thinks her child can do no wrong.. but it is not easy!

I feel very fortunate to have had wonderful parents! My amazing and brave father died after his 4th experience with cancer. That’s why I feel so passionate about cancer awareness and outreach programs. Cancer is tough on the whole family. My adorably funny mother still lives in Pittsburgh and I talk to her almost every day. She is married to a wonderful man, Harry. Together, they have found happiness after each of their spouses passed on. It goes to show that parents are really never done teaching!

I love my job! I love music, but the opportunity to meet people and take part in community events has given my life more meaning. Thank you so much for that!

Okay, now it’s YOUR turn! Please call or email me anytime and tell me about you… or add your thoughts to my latest blog.
