What if your friend was having an affair?

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

It’s all over the news, locally and nationally.  On TV there is a new show called Lipstick Jungle.  It’s about 3 good friends(women) who are all professional, and …want it all,  a good marriage or relationship, kids and fullfillment though their work.  In the show one of the women had an affair.  When her friends find out they are appaled and it puts a huge strain on their long friendship.  I think that’s a pretty honest response to finding out that your good friend is having an affair.  What would you do?

Would it end your friendship?

Do men and women have the same response to this question?

What did you make that was good?

Last week I went out  to dinner with some friends to a wonderful Italian restaturant.  I had a bowl of minestrone soup.  It was so good but I couldn’t believe it was $5.99!  The next day I stopped at the grocery store and stocked up on vegetables!  I made my own minestrone soup…I added tons of veggys and then I added hot sausage to it.  Presto dinner!  Good for you,  and ready  in a hurry!  What have you made or altered lately that would be really good to make ?  Help we all need new suggestions!  Thanks, Mitzi

Fill ‘em up, with love!

Friday, January 25th, 2008

I was reading some on line parenting advice and I especially like this one. My daughter turned 11 last week and I’ll admit that sometimes I wonder if I’m doing the right thing.

Don’t rush to punish. Every child has a cup that needs to be filled — and refilled — with love, attention, affection, and respect. A rough day, a big frustration, or a harsh word empties the cup. If your child is acting up, give him a hug, listen to him, and spend time together. He’ll be more cooperative, and you’ll both feel closer.

I hope that you have a great weekend with your kids!  Mitzi

Quick enery tip…does it work for you?

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

I just read about this.  Try it yourself it only takes a minute, and tell me does it work for you?

Touch your ring and middle fingers to your thumb and press them firmly together for a minute to  unblock energy.  I’m game, but I’m keeping my coffee nearby anyway!  Mitzi

Who should decide what the baby is named?

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

What’s in a name? If the name is Friday, shame and ridicule, according to Italian judges who forbade a couple from naming their child like the character in “Robinson Crusoe.”

“They thought that it recalled the figure of a savage, thus creating a sense of inferiority and failing to guarantee the boy the necessary decorum,” the couple’s lawyer said. The couple are considering appealing the decision.

What do you think?  Should the government of any nation be allowed to tell parents what they may or may not name their children?  Mitzi….and just signing this reminded me that as a child I used to wish that I had a common name!!!!

What show would you like to be on?

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

IF you could be on any TV show, from game show to reality show ….what show would you want to be on?

I love ”The Amazing Race”  Paula who works here at Magic and I both want to go on it and travel around the world.  We  argue over who would have to eat some strange “delicacy”, but otherwise we feel that we would be well suited to partner on that show.    I wouldn’t mind trying out for the Food Network to host a cooking show.   Or maybe Wheel of Futune!  I’m pretty good at home….but in person may be different!

What’s your best tip?

This week the kids in our neighborhood got their classroom assaignments for next year.  Has your child ever been assigned to a  teacher that you weren’t thrilled about?  If so what if anything did you do?  …um, no it’s not my daughter!  I would never ask this question if it was about her!

The Value of Great Fathers

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Happy father’s day to all of the wonderful dads all over Metro Detroit.  Dad’s who get up in the middle of night for  everything from dirty diapers to “monsters” in the closet.  I for one feel that men don’t get enough credit for their parental contributions.   It seems to be the norm to see men in commercials and TV shows that are incompetent…so I just want to salute all GREAT dads.  My father was a wonderful man.  I’m so happy that I can say that.  He had the best sense of humor, there was always a way that he could make me laugh.  He also was  great listener…..I really miss being able to use him as a sounding board.   I still “talk” to him, and in my mind I think I know how he’d answer.   He gave me a college education and tons of material things, even a  car(although it was bright ORANGE so that you could spot it from a mile away! …..but the best “gift” he ever gave me was the gift of his time…of himself.   Thanks to all of you great dads…..your gift is priceless!

Finally, I can share the good news!

My sister and her husband have adopted a boy.  He’’s beautiful. I got to see him at Easter.. the adoption was finalized this morning so I can now talk about it!   This is their second adoption, and our family has learned the joys and extreme pain that are the adoption process.  They have been on the verge of adopting 5 times now.   The last time the baby actually came home with them for 4 days but then the mother changed her mind.   To all birth parents who give chidren over to others to care for and love…thank you…….you are so couragous.  To those that adopt and open their hearts to a child who needs love….thank you!   I’m feeling like life is sooo good today!
